You are lucky to find this tour package. At first look, you will imagine it is a normal trip that includes Cairo visits, Luxor & Aswan and a red sea holiday. This can be right at the 2 parts of the tour package which are in Cairo, Luxor and Aswan. But the featured here is the part of the Red Sea Holiday (the part of Marsa Alam).

Marsa Alam is called the Egyptian Maldives. It has a featured coasts with a rare coral seas and different kinds of fish. One of the most popular sites in Marsa Alam is the U-Shaped Abu Dabab Bay which is known for its seas turtles and dugongs (sea cows).

In the beginning of (Cairo, Nile Cruise & Marsa Alam Holiday) Tour Package, you will arrive in Cairo to visit its most important highlights which you can not visit Egypt without visiting them. You will visit Giza Pyramids; Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure. You will also visit the first step pyramids in Egypt (Pyramids of Zoser in Sakkara) & the ancient capital of Old Kingdom (Memphis City).

You will have another day tour in Cairo before leaving to the Upper Egypt. This day tour will have a visit to the Egyptian Museum, a visit to the Citadel of Saladin and Coptic Cairo (to see the ancient coptic churches).

This is the first part of the Tour Package.

The Second part will be a Nile Cruise Trip between Aswan and Luxor and the cities in between. The Nile Cruise will start from Aswan and ends in Luxor. You will visit the highlights of the cities such as High Dam, the Temple of Philae, the unfinished Obelisk, A felucca Ride in Aswan, Luxor and Karnak Temples, the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon in Luxor, Temple of Kom Ombo and Temple of Edfu “cities in between”.

From Luxor you will start the Third part of the tour package. You will drive to Marsa Alam to start the most attractive part of the tour spending 4 nights in the Egyptian Maldives.

Itinerary

Upon arrival to Cairo International Airport, you will be met with GAT Tours’ representative, who will help you in passing the passport control and collecting your luggage. Then, you will be transferred to the hotel in Cairo by air-conditioned vehicle with qualified driver. Arrival to your hotel, we will check in the hotel within few minutes! Then you will proceed to your nice room for overnight.

Energizing breakfast at the hotel. After that, you will join your English-speaking Egyptologist, who will join you in such awe-inspiring tour to visit the marvelous Pyramids of Giza, constructed around 2500 BC as the necropolis of the kings of the forth dynasty. Also we will see the marvelous sphinx constructed with a body of a lion and the head of a human to guard the pyramids from any threats. Our next visit will be to The Step Pyramid Complex in Sakkara, which is considered to be the oldest surviving stone monument in the whole world and the first proper pyramid to be constructed in ancient Egypt. Enjoy your lunch meal at local restaurant in Cairo. At the end of the tour, we will drive to the city of Memphis to visit The Open Air Museum, which was established in 32nd century BC by King Narmer after he unified Upper and Lower Egypt and became the first capital of the whole country. After finishing your day tour, you’ll be transferred back to your hotel for rest and refresh. Overnight in Cairo. [Breakfast & Lunch]

Breakfast at hotel in Cairo. Check out to transfer to Cairo International Airport to take your flight to Aswan. Upon arrival to Aswan Airport, you will be met with our local representative there, who will transfer you to your five-star Nile Cruise ship. Check in and enjoy your lunch meal on board! Then you’ll visit the High Dam, which was constructed by the former president, Gamal Abdel Nasser to store the water, then generate a large volume of the electricity. We will then ride in a motorboat to reach Agilika Island, to visit Temple of Philae, constructed in the 3rd century BC in the Greco Roman era as the cult center of the goddess Isis. Our last visit of the day will be to the Unfinished Obelisk, which was found in the granite quarry in the Southern part of Aswan. Then enjoy a trip with a felucca around the kitchere’s island. If completed, it would have been the largest piece of stone humans ever dealt with. Finally, we will get back to the Nile cruise for overnight. (Breakfast – Lunch – Dinner)

Breakfast will be served on board before our full day tour. Our Nile Cruise ship will land at the location of the city of Kom Ombo, where we will visit Temple of Sobek & Haroeris, which was established in the Ptolemaic period and completed in the Roman era and was dedicated to two gods, the local crocodile, Sobek and the famous eagle god, Haroeris. After that, we will get back to our boat for Lunch, rest and refresh. Arrange yourself for the second visit of the day, whereas we will meet Temple of Horus in Edfu, the finest preserved ancient Egyptian temple in the land of the Nile. It was constructed by the Ptolemies in the 3rd century BC for the worship of the god Horus. After this amazing visit, we will get back to our Nile Cruise ship for overnight. [Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner]

Morning time is free at leisure or (optional) you can enjoy a Hot-air Balloon over the West Bank of Luxor. Enjoy your delicious breakfast before exploring the city of the dead where we can visit Valley of the Kings, the richest and most fascinating ancient tombs in Egypt. This was the burial site of the kings from the New Kingdom. The next visit of the day will be to the Temple of Deir El Bahari, constructed during the reign of the 18th dynasty by Queen Hatshepsut, one of the greatest rulers of Egypt. Our last visit will be to the Colossi of Memnon, these two huge statues are the only remaining items of the great funerary temple of Amenhotep III constructed in 1350 BC and became a landmark of Luxor afterwards.

After the West Bank Tour, you will be enjoy a tour in the East Bank of Luxor. You will visit Temple of Karnak, constructed over a period of more than one thousand years, almost all the impressive items of the Karnak we see today date back to the new kingdom specially the huge amazing columns of the hypostyle hall which are constructed by Ramses II, the greatest builder of ancient Egypt. Our next visit will be to the Luxor Temple, another startling temple which was established around the 14th century BC and the construction continued for many years afterwards by Ramses II, Queen Hatshepsut, and many other Pharaohs.

After the tour, we will get back to our Nile cruise ship for overnight. [Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner]

Breakfast on board the cruise before disembarkation. Then you’ll be transferred by private air-conditioned vehicle to Marsa Alam (it takes about 4h 30m).

Arrive in Marsa Alam, check in your hotel for relaxing. Enjoy the hotel facilities. Dinner and overnight in the hotel in Marsa Alam. (Breakfast – Dinner)

Enjoy your breakfast in the hotel. This day to enjoy this beautiful city “the Maldives of Egypt” on the Red Sea. Enjoy swimming in the Red Sea. Have a relaxing time on the beach with the warm sun and fantastic climate. Enjoy your lunch in the hotel.

The rest of day will be free for leisure. Dinner in the hotel and enjoy the hotel facilities. Overnight in Marsa Alam. (Breakfast – Lunch – Dinner)

Breakfast at hotel. Free day at leisure in Marsa Alam for many activities you can choose among them.

Optional Tour (Quad bike desert Safari): Pick up from your hotel by our representative who will accompany you to Sheikh Malek, the point you will start your quad runner. You will drive 22km between the mountains of the desert. You will have many stops on your way to the Bedouin tribe to explore most of their traditions. Have a Bedouin tea and make a camel ride. Then you will drive your motor bikes back to the quad runner station. Then you will be transferred back to your hotel.

Dinner and overnight in your hotel.

(Optional Hamata Island Day Tour): Pick up from your hotel to transfer to Hamata Marina (about 02 hours from Marsa Alam) and then board your boat and sail to enjoy Hamata National Park. Enjoying the diverse biological habitats which surround the islands, as well as hundreds of other colorful examples of Red Sea marine life, and enjoy full day tour for snorkeling around the 3 Islands. Enjoy the beautiful and rare corals and colored fish. The boat will dock on one of the 3 islands in Hamata, enjoy watching the many different birds on this island. You will have a walk on the beach of the island. Then you will have your lunch on board of the boat.

Sail back to Hamata Marina. Transferred back to your hotel in Marsa Alam. Dinner and overnight in the hotel. (Breakfast – Lunch – Dinner)

Breakfast at hotel. Check out and leave the most beautiful city in Egypt to fly back to Cairo to complete your trip. Transfer to Hurghada to take your flight from Hurghada International Airport. Upon arrival in Cairo International Airport, you will be met by GAT Tours representative to transfer you to your hotel for check in and rest.

At night, optional Nile Cruise Dinner can be offered upon your request to enjoy your dinner on the Nile on a sailing cruise for 2 hours with a fantastic show of Tanoora and Belly Dancing.

Important Note: Kindly be informed that the direct flights from Marsa Alam to Cairo are only available on (Sunday, Mondays, Wednesdays & Thursdays). So if your dates will be reasonable for that, you will take a direct flight from Marsa Alam instead of taking it from Hurghada to Cairo.

Breakfast meal will be served at your hotel. After that, you will join your tour guide in a tour in the city center of Cairo. We begin our visits of the day by exploring The Egyptian Museum, the largest museum in the world with a huge collection of displays dating back to various periods of the ancient Egyptian history including the golden exhibits of Tutankhamen. Enjoy your lunch in a local restaurant. We will then visit the Citadel of Saladin, constructed in the 10th century by Saladin to protect Egypt and became the residence of the rulers of Egypt for a period that lasted more than seven centuries. Finally we will proceed to visit Coptic Cairo Area, including The Hanging Church, the Abu Serga Church and the Church of Saint Mary. After the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel for rest and refresh.

Overnight in Cairo. (Breakfast – Lunch)

Check out after breakfast. Later on, you’ll be met with GAT Tours’ Representative who will transfer you by private air-conditioned vehicle to Cairo International Airport in order to catch your departure flight carrying wonderful memories about your last trip in the land of the Nile, Egypt. [Breakfast]

Trip of a lifetime We just got back from a family "trip of a lifetime" to Egypt: 3 couples arrived in Cairo from different parts of US and Canada, at different flights and times, and yet the reception and arrival coordination and documents arrangement could not have been smoother. All was arranged, and the trip was custom designed by Ahmet from GAT Tours. We were a bit apprehensive considering the issues in the Middle East, but really there never has been a moment of concern and a complete feeling of safety as we were chauffeured, flown and sailed to the various destinations of this great country of Egypt. We visited the important sites around Cairo : the fantastic, new, Grand Egyptian Museum, the pyramids, the Sphinx, Civilization Museum, the market, Citadel, and other sites. Our hotel was first class. Our voyage down the Nile from Luxor was in upgraded suites (courtesy of GAT) on top of the line Sonesta Cruise line : gourmet meals in absolute comfort! We were lucky to have Asmaa in Cairo and Simon in Luxor and Aswan to guide us through the exhilarating sites of Karnak Temple, Valley of the Kings, Kim Ombo, Edfu, Abu Simbel etc. in a very knowledgeable and entertaining fashion. Cairo and Nile Cruise This was an excellent tour! GAT Tours planned every detail and was very accommodating. We were initially going to cancel the tour considering the recent instability in the Gulf Region, however, the tour manager (Ahmed Omar) ensured our safety. We felt very safe in the hands of our tour guides (Asmaa - in Cairo and Simon in Luxor/Aswan). Both tour guides were extremely knowledgeable, personable, engaging, and advised us well on how to save time and money at the various sites and markets. Strongly recommend Asmaa and Simon as tour guides! Our travel/logistics person (Seif) was also great. He ensured our transportation, pick-ups, and meals were all on time. Everyone operating the tour was accessible and responsive via iPhone. The tour guides really showed us how rich their culture (ancient or modern) is. Highly recommend this tour: Six adults (incl. 2 seniors). My personal favorites: Valley of the Kings, GEM, and any of the evening tours of the temples!

Good experience overall It’s a mixed review of the tour and I will divide it into office staff and guide & drivers. Ahmed Omar in Cairo office helped us with our 5 days-Nile cruise and associated sightseeing. He was very prompt, polite and professional. As we didn’t get the morning flight on the day of our cruise, Ahmed helped us book a Luxor hotel for the night before. He also asked us for a personal favour and we obliged. Ahmed was thoughtful and offered to arrange ‘meet and greet’ at Cairo airport, in addition to the pick up on our return to Cairo after the cruise. Mr Mina met us at Cairo airport for helping with visa, Sim and money exchange. Despite Ahmed’s assurance that we would be helped with exchanging money, Mr Mina was walking out without doing that. When my wife pointed that out, he tried to blame us for not reminding him, which was not very nice! At Luxor airport, we were expecting My Ayman, but someone else came, which is fine. He was helpful and went to the hotel with us and next morning picked us up from hotel and dropped us at the cruise. We chose Sonesta star goddess for our trip and Ahmed had arranged everything. The guide Mohamed Refaat met us at 3pm. He said was a freelancer, and that he was given to us because he is a close friend of Mr Ayman. We found difficult to understand his English initially and his knowledge was just ok. He spent 20 minutes outside the Karnak temple talking about canals etc and as a result we had to rush at the end. He didn’t offer to take photos, but obliged whenever we asked. He repeated himself a lot and was not very interesting or engaging. We did think of calling the office to change him but didn’t. In Aswan, he said that we should pay for the felucca ride which was included. And then went on to say that we should pay the driver as he is not paid well and that we have to spend a lot during our Abu Simbel trip. On the final day, Mohamed went to our cruise reception and asked the person to give us an envelope and then turned around and told me to give them tips, before he leaves. That was very disrespectful behaviour and we were angry. Then we went to Abu Simbel and throughout the journey, he mostly chatted with the driver or slept. The driver, Kareem, was holding his phone with his left hand and talking while driving on the highway, which we found quite scary. Despite clearly telling Mohamed that we will not take out money using our card and that we will exchange money when we return to Aswan, after our trip finishes, he kept asking us to take money out throughout the day whenever he saw an ATM, very irritating behaviour. It left us with a bad taste. On the positive side, he was always on time, was friendly and did the basics. There were other little negative things like the car didn’t have water or tissue box, though it was sorted after informing Ahmed twice. It would have been good if someone from Gat tour contacted us directly to see if we were ok. We had to keep texting Ahmed for all minor issues, and he was always prompt. The representatives for Aswan airport and then again at Cairo airport were all on time and professional. So overall it was good. Gat tours is recommended but the guide Mohamed is definitely not.

The best! Highly recommended! 10 out of 10 The best. Seamless from start to finish. Nothing is too much. Excellent communications. We did the Renaissance 5 day river cruise from Luxor to Aswan. 4 of us. We had our own knowledgeable and very solicitous guide who accompanied us throughout the cruise. GAT also met us at the airport and in Luxor to take us to the boat and introduce us to our tour guide. Everything on time, with clear communication. GAT also booked us the Elite sleeper train from Cairo to Luxor. Their cost was was very reasonable and it was a fabulous experience: a wonderful, clean and well designed compartment with excellent service, they even provided slippers! Mr Omar, one of the managers, based in Cairo, was superb in choreographing our entire trip. Thank you GAT
