Jerusalem or El Quds as Arabs and Moslems prefer to call it is one of the most interesting cities to be visited all over the world. It is the city that has quite an important religious significant for Jews, Christians, and Moslems.
For the Jews, the city of Jerusalem is the holiest city of all. around the 10th century AD, the prophet King David conquered the city and made it the capital of unified Israel. Afterwards, his Suleiman constructed the first Calvary in the city.
Jerusalem was where the Christ was crucified and buried around the year 30 AD. After Empress Helena has found the cross where the Christ was crucified in the 4th century AD, the city has become very sacred for Christians.
For Moslems, Jerusalem is the third holiest city in the world after Mecca and El Mandena El Monawara in Saudi Arabia. It is where the Moslems used to direct their prayers, towards El Aqsa Mosque, when they were ordered by god to begin their prayers in 610 AD. Jerusalem was also where prophet Mohamed carried out his journey to meet god that is known as the Isra and Mi’raj.
Due to this unparalleled religious importance, the city of Jerusalem hosts a large number of religious constructions and monuments including the Church of the Holy Sculpture, the Wheeling Wall, the Aqsa Mosque, and the Dome of the Rock Mosques, and many other interesting monuments.
Throughout the ancient history of the city, Jerusalem was fully destroyed two times, sieged for 23 times, attacked for 52 times, and conquered and re-conquered 44 times. The city was inhabited as early as the 40th century BC making one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world.

The most important historical sites in Jerusalem include the Tomb of King David, the Church of the Holy Sculpture that is considered by Christians to be the most sacred place on earth due to the fact that the Christ was crucified and buried there.
There is also the Mosque/Temple of the Dome of the Rock that is considered by Jews to be the place where the first and the second Jewish Temples were constructed. It is also the place where the mosque of the Dome of the Rock was built in the 7th century AD.
For the Jews as well, there is the Wailing Wall that is considered to be the only remaining part the Jerusalem second Temple that was destroyed by the Romans in the 1st century BC.
Another important historical sites of the city of Jerusalem include the Olives Mount that hosts a number of holy Jewish and Christian sites. This is where the tomb of King David in actually located. This is besides the room of the Last Supper as well.
