Our Cairo, Nile Cruise and Sharm El Shiekh tour package. It starts with spending two night in Cairo exploring the most magnificent highlights of the Egyptian capital including the Pyramids of Giza ,The Egyptian Museum, and the Citadel Of Salah El Dien.

The next step of this wonderful vacation in Egypt after we leave Cairo we will head to the south of Egypt and boarding on a luxurious Nile Cruise ship sailing down the Nile between Aswan and Luxor and exploring the monuments of these two cities. All the meals are included in the Nile Cruise trip offering wonderful open buffet meals. This is besides the amazing entertainment programs organized by your Nile Cruise that would include a folkloric show and much more fun.

The visits in Upper Egypt would include the High Dam, the Temple of Philae, the Unfinished Obelisk, Temple of Kom Ombo, the Temple of Edfu, the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut, the Colossi of Memnon, the Luxor Temple and the Karnak Temple.

Itinerary

Once you land on the Cairo Airport, you will meet GAT Tours’ representative who will be your main assistant during your stay in Cairo, you can ask him anything in your mind about the trip and Egypt.

He will take you by air-conditioned vehicle directly towards your chosen hotel to check in and receive your room, where you will be able to relax and get some rest after such a long flight.

The rest of the day you will be free at leisure to do whatever pleases you. You can enjoy spending your first night in Egypt before the superb coming days, enjoying your holiday in the land of the Pharaohs. (No Meals)

 

Start your first day in the Egyptian Journey with a delicious local breakfast at your hotel. Then get ready to join your professional Egyptologist to the first visit of today.

You will head to visit the marvelous site of The Pyramids of Giza where you can enjoy exploring the Pyramids of Cheops, Khafre, and Menkaure, plus the marvelous sphinx statue that was constructed to be the main guard of the pyramids. The pyramids were built around 2500 BC in order to be the royal burial site for the kings of the 4th dynasty. You will definitely enjoy discovering how the kings’ life looked like.

Let’s continue the tour at the Egyptian Museum, which is the greatest museum in the world, as it hosts a huge number of ancient displays that you can’t find in a place else in the world. This museum includes monuments from various periods of the ancient Egyptian history, plus the magnificent golden exhibits of Tutankhamen.

Last but not least, you will head to another amazing building located on a high point in Cairo, the Citadel of Salah El Din. This Citadel was built in the 10th century by Saladin, the ruler of Egypt at that time, to protect Egypt from any threats. Inside this fortress there are many interesting monuments to visit including the famous Mosque of Mohamed Ali, the Mosque of El Nasser Mohamed, and many interesting museums. There are also charming views for the whole city of Cairo from the top that will allow you to take pictures for the memory.

At the end of this day, you will head to one of the best local restaurants in Cairo to have your lunch meal.

After getting some energy, you will head to the Giza train station by private air-conditioned vehicle to catch your Sleeper train to reach Aswan city.

Dinner meal will be included on board the train. [Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner]

Your breakfast meal will be served on board the train until you reach Aswan city,

You will arrive at approximately 08:30 AM, our local representative will be waiting for you at the Aswan train station to take you by comfortable air-conditioned vehicle towards your Nile Cruise ship.

You will check in the Cruise to start having your lunch meal with the amazing views of the Nile.

After lunch, you’ll head to visit the High Dam, which is one of the greatest achievements in Egypt. It was constructed in the 1960s by the former Egyptian president, Gamal Abdel Nasser, in order to store the flood water from the Nile and to generate more electricity for the whole of Egypt.

Then you will be visiting the Agilika Island, where you can find the amazing temple of Philae. This temple was originally built in the 3rd century BC during the Greco-Roman era to worship the goddess Isis. The Philae Temple faced a huge problem during the construction of the high Dam as it was almost get destroyed from the water flood of the Nile River. But thanks to the UNESCO, they were able to rescue the temple and reallocate it on the current island to be away from the water.

Let’s end the day with a remarkable visit to the Unfinished Obelisk, which is located on the Southern part of the Aswan city. This Obelisk could be the largest piece of stone humans ever dealt with if they were able to complete it. It was constructed during the New Kingdom.

After such a fruitful day, you will drive back to your Nile cruiser, where you can relax and enjoy some free time chilling beside the pool and feel the fresh air.

At the evening, you can spend a free time, or you can have a wonderful opportunity to go for an optional tour to the sound and light show at Philae Temple. This show will allow you to know the full story of the goddess Isis and her husband Osiris in the most marvelous ambience. This is in addition to knowing many legends and interesting stories about the Ancient Egypt.

Now, it’s the bedtime, you will get back to your Cruise tonight to sleep well and be ready for tomorrow’s adventure.

Dinner and overnight on the Cruise. [Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner]

Begin your day with an energizing breakfast on board with the fascinating views of the Nile River in the background.

Today, your Nile Cruise will land on another interesting location, which is the Kom Ombo city. You will be visiting the Temple of Kom Ombo that was built during the Ptolemaic period, but they completed it during the Roman era and this made the temple divided between two gods in two different sections. The first god is the local crocodile, Sobek and second famous eagle god, Haroeris.

From Kom Ombo city to Edfu city, while sailing between the two cities you will be enjoying your delicious lunch meal.

Once you arrive to Edfu city, you will head to visit the Temple of Horus, which is the finest preserved ancient Egyptian temple in the land of the Nile. This temple was originally built in the 3rd century BC during the Ptolemies period, they constructed this temple in order to worship the god Horus. You will enjoy discovering all the marvelous stone columns and fascinating wall carvings of this temple.

In the Evening of this day, you will have some free time to spend it on your own, or if you want to go for another trip, we will offer you an optional tour to the Temple of Edfu. Inside this temple, you will be able to attend the sound & light show, which is a wonderful chance to know the story of the temple through a startling sound and lights show. (Usually it depends on the cruise schedule, as some cruisers don’t have an overnight in Edfu.) [Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner]

Today, you will be having a unique morning by getting the chance to try a Hot-air Balloon adventure. In the Early morning, you will get into a huge balloon to tour the Luxor city from the sky like birds. It’s a marvelous feeling that you can’t miss. (optional tour)

Let’s get back to the hotel to enjoy the Egyptian food in the breakfast before exploring the West bank of Luxor.

Start the trip at the Valley of the Kings, which is the richest site, full of fascinating ancient tombs for the kings of the New Kingdom. This site includes the marvelous tomb of Tutankhamen that was discovered in the 20th century by Howard Carter, who found it full without anyone touching it.

Next, you will be visiting one of the startling temples of Luxor, the Temple of Deir El Bahari. This temple was constructed by the beautiful queen Hatshepsut in the 18th dynasty to be a masterpiece today. This temple is features with many statues of the Queen with a beard, and many terraces that gives it great architectural shape.

You will end the tour of the West Bank at the Colossi of Memnon which is consisting of two huge statues that were constructed in 1350 BC in the great funerary temple of Amenhotep II. It’s now a charming landmark of Luxor today.

After this interesting tour, you will get back to your Nile cruiser to have a delicious lunch meal on board vehicle enjoyign the Nile views.

Enjoy your Afternoon tea on board while chilling on the sundeck and facing the amazing view of the Nile and the clear sky.

There will be a funny party at night, that called “Galabeiya Party” that will allow you to try some Egyptian customs and have fun at the same time while listening to international music. [Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner]

Don’t miss your delicious buffet breakfast in the morning before heading to explore the east bank of Luxor.

Today’s tour will begin at the marvelous temple of Karnak which is the largest Pharaonic temple complex in the world. This complex was built during almost one thousand years, different pharaohs participated in its construction to be the amazing temple complex we found today. You will also find there a very important monument, which is the huge amazing columns of the hypostyle hall that was constructed by Ramses II.

Then, you will head to visit another startling temple, which is the Luxor Temple. It was built in the 14th century BC, during many years more than one pharaoh participated in its construction like king Ramses II, and Queen Hatshepsut. You will enjoy visiting all the amazing parts of the temple plus the huge two statues of Ramses II.

After this amazing tour, you will head to the Luxor International Airport in order to catch your domestic flight to Sharm El Sheikh (usually with one stop in Cairo).

Our local representative will be waiting for you at the Sharm El Sheikh International Airport to take you towards your hotel in Sharm El Sheikh.

You will have a smooth check in, then you will go to enjoy your dinner meal.

Enjoy your breakfast meal in the morning and start the fun as early as you can to not waste time.

Trip of a lifetime We just got back from a family "trip of a lifetime" to Egypt: 3 couples arrived in Cairo from different parts of US and Canada, at different flights and times, and yet the reception and arrival coordination and documents arrangement could not have been smoother. All was arranged, and the trip was custom designed by Ahmet from GAT Tours. We were a bit apprehensive considering the issues in the Middle East, but really there never has been a moment of concern and a complete feeling of safety as we were chauffeured, flown and sailed to the various destinations of this great country of Egypt. We visited the important sites around Cairo : the fantastic, new, Grand Egyptian Museum, the pyramids, the Sphinx, Civilization Museum, the market, Citadel, and other sites. Our hotel was first class. Our voyage down the Nile from Luxor was in upgraded suites (courtesy of GAT) on top of the line Sonesta Cruise line : gourmet meals in absolute comfort! We were lucky to have Asmaa in Cairo and Simon in Luxor and Aswan to guide us through the exhilarating sites of Karnak Temple, Valley of the Kings, Kim Ombo, Edfu, Abu Simbel etc. in a very knowledgeable and entertaining fashion. Cairo and Nile Cruise This was an excellent tour! GAT Tours planned every detail and was very accommodating. We were initially going to cancel the tour considering the recent instability in the Gulf Region, however, the tour manager (Ahmed Omar) ensured our safety. We felt very safe in the hands of our tour guides (Asmaa - in Cairo and Simon in Luxor/Aswan). Both tour guides were extremely knowledgeable, personable, engaging, and advised us well on how to save time and money at the various sites and markets. Strongly recommend Asmaa and Simon as tour guides! Our travel/logistics person (Seif) was also great. He ensured our transportation, pick-ups, and meals were all on time. Everyone operating the tour was accessible and responsive via iPhone. The tour guides really showed us how rich their culture (ancient or modern) is. Highly recommend this tour: Six adults (incl. 2 seniors). My personal favorites: Valley of the Kings, GEM, and any of the evening tours of the temples!

Good experience overall It’s a mixed review of the tour and I will divide it into office staff and guide & drivers. Ahmed Omar in Cairo office helped us with our 5 days-Nile cruise and associated sightseeing. He was very prompt, polite and professional. As we didn’t get the morning flight on the day of our cruise, Ahmed helped us book a Luxor hotel for the night before. He also asked us for a personal favour and we obliged. Ahmed was thoughtful and offered to arrange ‘meet and greet’ at Cairo airport, in addition to the pick up on our return to Cairo after the cruise. Mr Mina met us at Cairo airport for helping with visa, Sim and money exchange. Despite Ahmed’s assurance that we would be helped with exchanging money, Mr Mina was walking out without doing that. When my wife pointed that out, he tried to blame us for not reminding him, which was not very nice! At Luxor airport, we were expecting My Ayman, but someone else came, which is fine. He was helpful and went to the hotel with us and next morning picked us up from hotel and dropped us at the cruise. We chose Sonesta star goddess for our trip and Ahmed had arranged everything. The guide Mohamed Refaat met us at 3pm. He said was a freelancer, and that he was given to us because he is a close friend of Mr Ayman. We found difficult to understand his English initially and his knowledge was just ok. He spent 20 minutes outside the Karnak temple talking about canals etc and as a result we had to rush at the end. He didn’t offer to take photos, but obliged whenever we asked. He repeated himself a lot and was not very interesting or engaging. We did think of calling the office to change him but didn’t. In Aswan, he said that we should pay for the felucca ride which was included. And then went on to say that we should pay the driver as he is not paid well and that we have to spend a lot during our Abu Simbel trip. On the final day, Mohamed went to our cruise reception and asked the person to give us an envelope and then turned around and told me to give them tips, before he leaves. That was very disrespectful behaviour and we were angry. Then we went to Abu Simbel and throughout the journey, he mostly chatted with the driver or slept. The driver, Kareem, was holding his phone with his left hand and talking while driving on the highway, which we found quite scary. Despite clearly telling Mohamed that we will not take out money using our card and that we will exchange money when we return to Aswan, after our trip finishes, he kept asking us to take money out throughout the day whenever he saw an ATM, very irritating behaviour. It left us with a bad taste. On the positive side, he was always on time, was friendly and did the basics. There were other little negative things like the car didn’t have water or tissue box, though it was sorted after informing Ahmed twice. It would have been good if someone from Gat tour contacted us directly to see if we were ok. We had to keep texting Ahmed for all minor issues, and he was always prompt. The representatives for Aswan airport and then again at Cairo airport were all on time and professional. So overall it was good. Gat tours is recommended but the guide Mohamed is definitely not.

The best! Highly recommended! 10 out of 10 The best. Seamless from start to finish. Nothing is too much. Excellent communications. We did the Renaissance 5 day river cruise from Luxor to Aswan. 4 of us. We had our own knowledgeable and very solicitous guide who accompanied us throughout the cruise. GAT also met us at the airport and in Luxor to take us to the boat and introduce us to our tour guide. Everything on time, with clear communication. GAT also booked us the Elite sleeper train from Cairo to Luxor. Their cost was was very reasonable and it was a fabulous experience: a wonderful, clean and well designed compartment with excellent service, they even provided slippers! Mr Omar, one of the managers, based in Cairo, was superb in choreographing our entire trip. Thank you GAT
