Itinerary

Once you arrive at the Cairo International Airport, you will be meeting The GAT Tours’ representative who will be your main assistance during your stay in Egypt.

Now you will be heading towards your hotel in Cairo to check in and get some rest after a long flight at your new room. Let your imagination tell you how your upcoming days will be like in Egypt. (No Meals)

Start your next day with a great Egyptian breakfast, then get the energy to begin today’s adventure with our professional Egyptologist at The Great Pyramids of Giza. This is the most popular monument in the whole world as it’s considered one of the old 7 wonders of the world. The pyramids were built to be the king’s tombs in 2500 BC during the 4th dynasty. These pyramids were for kings Cheops, Khafre, and Menkaure, in front of them you can find the marvelous sphinx statue which was built in the shape of a lion body and human head to guard the pyramids.

Your upcoming visit will be to Saqqara city which was known as the royal burial site of the 3rd dynasty. This place is one of the richest archeological sites in Egypt as lots of treasures were discovered in this place. The main highlight of Saqqara is the Step Pyramid of Djoser, the first stone structure to be built in the whole world and the first pyramid we ever knew.

Your last visit of the day should be very unique, so you will be exploring Memphis city. This wonderful place is the first capital of unified Egypt, as it was built when King Narmer unified Upper and Lower Egypt in the 32nd century BC.

To be able to proceed with the rest of this amazing tour, you will have to enjoy your lunch meal first at one of the famous local restaurants in Egypt.

After lunch it will be the time to get back to your hotel for some rest and refreshment, or there will be an optional tour waiting for you. Tonight’s optional tour will be at the sound & light show at Giza pyramids, where you will get to know more about the ancient stories and legends of the pharaohs from the startling sphinx in an entertaining blend of sounds and lights.

Finally, it’s the bed time when you will get a comfy sleep at your hotel to be ready for tomorrow’s adventure. (Breakfast & Lunch)

Enjoy a fresh morning by having a delicious breakfast meal at your hotel and then you can join your tour guide who will take you on a marvelous tour to the city center of Cairo.

The visits will legend by discovering The famous Egyptian Museum that is considered the largest museum in the world with the reciest collection of ancient Egypt. You will know everything about ancient Egyptian history inside this museum plus exploring all the golden collectibles of Tutankhamen’s tomb, and many other fascinating items.

Next, you will be visiting the Citadel of Saladin which was built in the 10th century in order to protect Egypt from any attackers. The citadel is a wonderful site to visit as it contains many remarkable monuments like the impressive Mohamed Ali Mosque, and the Mosque of El Nasser Mohamed plus more than one musium about different eras of Egypt. You can also have great pictures for the memory at the panoramic view of the citadel.

You have now reached lunch time where you will enjoy your meal at one of the best local restaurants in Cairo.

After having your lunch, you will start discovering the Old Cairo area. This part of Cairo hosts some of the most interesting monuments of the Coptic Cairo.

You will start this tour at the Coptic Cairo by visiting The Hanging Church which is the one of the most important historical churches in Egypt, built since the 5th century.

Then to the Abu Serga Church that we believe that the holy family rested in it at the end of their journey in Egypt and it was built in the 7th century.

Your last visit in Coptic Cairo will be at the Church of Saint Mary that is one of the orthodox churches built in the 5th century, and now they rebuilt it many times to stand still until today.

After all these marvelous tours, you head back to your hotel in Cairo to have some rest and refreshment and get ready for the fun tonight.

You will spend the night free at leisure and you will also have an optional tour to go for a unique Dinner at one of the Nile Cruise ships. You will be having a delicious Egyptian dinner and at the same time you can enjoy a Tanoura show, a belly dancing performance, and live music with the remarkable views of the river Nile.

Don’t miss your breakfast meal in the morning at your hotel before starting today’s adventure with your professional Egyptologist.

Today you will be discovering the Islamic Cairo area and will begin at Al Muizz Street and you will stop first in Bab El Fetouh which is one of the historical gates of the old Cairo since the 11th century.

Then you will pass by the El Hakim Mosque which is one of the largest historical mosques in Egypt built since the 11th century. Also, you can’t miss visiting El Aqmar Mosque, this wonderful Fatimid mosque with its marvelous stone decoration at the entrance.

Afterwards you will enjoy having a walk in El Hussein district where you will be amazed with the old buildings around you and the mosque of El Hussein.

Now, you will be having your lunch meal at one of the local restaurants in El Hussein district, that will serve you the best Egyptian food ever.

Once today’s tours are over, you will be heading back to your hotel in Caio to have some rest at your own room.

At night, you will be having free time on your own to do whatever your preference, but at the same time we will prepare an optional tour for you if you want to try something new.

Our optional tour will be to the Cairo Tower where you will enjoy it’s magnificent views of the whole city and the River Nile. This amazing building was constructed in the 1950s.

After spending a great night, you will get back to your beloved hotel to spend the night. [Breakfast & Lunch]

Enjoy your delicious buffet breakfast at your hotel in the morning. Then get ready to join your English-speaking representative on a private A/C vehicle to the Cairo Airport to take the domestic flight towards Luxor city.

When you arrive at Luxor Airport, you’ll meet our local representative who will be your assistant during your stay in Luxor.

You will start your first day in Luxor by discovering the West Bank of Luxor. You will begin with the Temple of Medinet Habu, the mortuary temple constructed by Ramses III and one of the best-preserved monuments of ancient Egypt.

Then you will head to the Tombs of the Nobles which was constructed in the reign of the New Kingdom, the tombs are featured with some amazing wall paintings.

The last visit of the day will be to the Ramesseum Temple, the great moratoria temple built by Ramses II featured with some colossi of the kings and some other marvelous statues.

Once the day ends, you will drive towards your hotel in Luxor to check in and get some relaxation time.

The rest of the day you will be free and you can do whatever you want, at the dame time we will be offering you an optional Felucca tour that will sail around Banana Island t in the same style as the ancient Egyptians.

Today you will check out the hotel after enjoying your breakfast because you will get ready for the next destination.

Next destination will be at a five-star Nile cruise ship, you will check in and go to have your lunch in the middle of the Nile.

Then you will start your tour in the East Bank of Luxor by sailing towards the Temple of Karnak. This is the greatest Pharaonic temple complex in the world that has lots of impressive items dating back to the new kingdom.

The next visit will be to the Luxor Temple,which is the second amazing temple in Luxor as it was built in 14th century BC by Ramses II, Queen Hatshepsut, and many other Pharaohs. This temple has a variety of architectural designs because more than one ruler had worked in it.

After this amazing tour, you will get back to your Nile cruise ship to have some rest & refreshment.

This morning is a little bit different than the others. We will offer you an optional tour to go on a Hot-air Balloon adventure and explore the whole city of Luxor from the sky. You will be having an amazing feeling as you’re flying like a bird. But if you don’t like these kinds of adventures you can have this time free on your own.

Now you can have your delicious breakfast before exploring the West bank of Luxor which is known for the city of the dead. You will find there many marvelous mortuary temples and necropolises to discover.

You will begin by visiting the Valley of the Kings where you will find many fascinating ancient tombs. One of these tombs was the one for Tutankhamen, this tomb was discovered in 1922 by Howard Carter and it was the most important archeological discovery at that time. All the tombs found there have very unique wall paintings that are still the same until today.

Next, you will pass by the marvelous Temple of Deir El Bahari, this building was constructed during the 18th dynasty by The greatest Queen Hatshepsut, which was very famous for her wisdom and beauty. Her temple has very unique terraces, and many statues for the Queen with a beard.

Your last visit at the West Bank of luxor will be to the Colossi of Memnon, this interesting site was constructed in 1350 BC and consists of two huge statues that were the only remaining parts of the great funerary temple of Amenhotep III.

After such a long and interesting tour, you will go back to your Nile cruise for having your delicious lunch meal on board while enjoying the Nile view.

At night, you will have the chance to enjoy the funniest party on board “Galabeiya Party” or you can listen to your preferred international music. [Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner]

In the morning you will be enjoying your breakfast on board then you will get ready for today’s adventure sailing down the Nile.

Your adventure will start at the Temple of Horus in Edfu city, this amazing structure was constructed by the Ptolemies in the 3rd century BC and they made it for the worship of the god Horus.

Now you will return to your beloved ship to enjoy your lunch while sailing towards the city of Kom Ombo.

Once you arrive at the Temple of Kom Ombo, you will start discovering this place. What is unique about this temple is that it was built during the Ptolemaic period and finished in the Roman era. They made this temple for the warship of two gods, the local crocodile, Sobek and the famous eagle god, Haroeris. That’s why they divided the temple into two sections; one for each god.

At the end of this marvelous tour, you will return back to your beloved Nile cruise ship for rest and refresh.

You will have the rest of the day free to get some relaxing time on board. At the same time we will offer you an optional tour to enjoy the Egyptian folklore show on the ship with an attractive belly dancer and many other entertaining shows included in your Nile cruise package. Your delicious buffet breakfast will be served to you on board to get some energy to begin today’s tour.

The first site will be the famous High Dam, this great structure was built in the region of the former Egyptian president, Gamal Abdel Nasser in the 1960s. He built the Dam to help store the water from the flood of the River Nile and also to generate a large volume of the electricity for all the Egyptians.

You will then go on a motorboat ride to Agilika Island, the new location of the marvelous Philae Temple after its famous rescue mission by UNESCO as it was threatened with destruction by the flood of the Nile. This amazing temple was constructed in the 3rd century BC during the Greco Roman era to be dedicated to the goddess Isis.

The last destination will be to the Unfinished Obelisk, this incredible structure dates back to the New Kingdom and was found at the Southern part of the city of Aswan. The interesting part of this site is that If the ancient Egyptian continued its building, it would have been the largest piece of stone humans ever dealt with.

Finally, you will get back to your Nile cruiser after a long and interesting day, so you can enjoy the tasty Egyptian lunch.

In the evening, you will have some free time on your own to enjoy all the cruise facilities and get your Dinner meal before enjoying the farewell show on board (maybe Nubian show). [Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner]

Start the day with your last breakfast on board before checking out the Nile Cruise.

Then you will go with an A/C vehicle towards the south of Aswan to visit the temple of Abu Simbel. This amazing structure is considered the greatest achievement of ancient Egypt and was built by Ramses II. These 2 temples were relocated after the High Dam building by a UNESCO project.

After such a memorable tour you will head back to Aswan Airport in order to take your domestic flight back to Cairo city.

Once you arrive at Cairo Airport, our English-speaking representative will be waiting for you to take you on an A/C vehicle to your hotel in Cairo. You will check in the hotel and get some rest after an unforgettable journey in upper Egypt. The rest of the day will be free time.

Tonight you’ll have a relaxing sleep at your hotel in Cairo[Breakfast]

You will leave Cairo in the morning after having your breakfast to go for a totally different adventure to El Bahariya Oasis. Our expert Safari tour guide will take you on a private air-conditioned vehicle to the Oasis from Cairo.

After Spending around four hours’ drive, you will reach your destination at El Bahariya. You will start the visits at the location of the Golden mummies tombs and the Museum, this Greco Roman historical site was discovered in 1996.

Your next visit will be to the Temple of Alexander the Great, this was the only monument this Greek king ever constructed in Egypt. The excitement goes on when we visit the El Meftella temple which is the center of the city in Pharaonic times.

Then you will enjoy your lunch meal in a new experience in the desert.

Let’s continue the tour by visiting the Black Desert which was a result of a black volcanic mountain located nearby.

And to the natural springs, where you will be visiting one of the hot and one of the cold springs to experience both of them featured with their wonderful effects.

Don’t miss visiting the Crystal Mountains which is about a collection that shines like crystals in an amazing natural scene.

After that, you will end the day by visiting the Valley of Agabat, this wonderful place located in the Egyptian Western Desert with various sand dunes.

You will also have the chance to camp in the desert so that you can experience the marvelous feeling of living in the desert.

Enjoy your breakfast in the camp before going on with this natural tour in the Western Desert of Egypt.

Today you will visit the White Desert of the Egyptian oases that is featured with its bizarre looking rock.

Then to the acacia tree and Ain khadra spring, they are wonderful natural water springs that were used since the Roman period in Egypt.

Once the tour is over, you will go back to El Bahariya Oasis in order to have your lunch meal at one of the best local restaurants in the area.

This morning you will be leaving the camp after having your breakfast to start driving towards El Fayoum city which is 100 kilometers away to the South West of Cairo.

Your first visit of the day will be to the Valley of the Whales, one of the heritage sites of the UNESCO where fossils of Whales who lived in the area in ancient times can be viewed until today.

We go on with our Egypt travel package to visit Wadi El Rayan, a natural protected area which hosts the only real waterfalls in Egypt.

Then you will take a tour to the Qarun Lake, a huge saltwater lake which dominates the Northern section of Fayoum with some remarkable bird watching.

After finishing this interesting day tour, you will drive back to Cairo.

Once you arrive, you will reach the hotel in Cairo to check in and spend the rest of the day.

Trip of a lifetime We just got back from a family "trip of a lifetime" to Egypt: 3 couples arrived in Cairo from different parts of US and Canada, at different flights and times, and yet the reception and arrival coordination and documents arrangement could not have been smoother. All was arranged, and the trip was custom designed by Ahmet from GAT Tours. We were a bit apprehensive considering the issues in the Middle East, but really there never has been a moment of concern and a complete feeling of safety as we were chauffeured, flown and sailed to the various destinations of this great country of Egypt. We visited the important sites around Cairo : the fantastic, new, Grand Egyptian Museum, the pyramids, the Sphinx, Civilization Museum, the market, Citadel, and other sites. Our hotel was first class. Our voyage down the Nile from Luxor was in upgraded suites (courtesy of GAT) on top of the line Sonesta Cruise line : gourmet meals in absolute comfort! We were lucky to have Asmaa in Cairo and Simon in Luxor and Aswan to guide us through the exhilarating sites of Karnak Temple, Valley of the Kings, Kim Ombo, Edfu, Abu Simbel etc. in a very knowledgeable and entertaining fashion. Cairo and Nile Cruise This was an excellent tour! GAT Tours planned every detail and was very accommodating. We were initially going to cancel the tour considering the recent instability in the Gulf Region, however, the tour manager (Ahmed Omar) ensured our safety. We felt very safe in the hands of our tour guides (Asmaa - in Cairo and Simon in Luxor/Aswan). Both tour guides were extremely knowledgeable, personable, engaging, and advised us well on how to save time and money at the various sites and markets. Strongly recommend Asmaa and Simon as tour guides! Our travel/logistics person (Seif) was also great. He ensured our transportation, pick-ups, and meals were all on time. Everyone operating the tour was accessible and responsive via iPhone. The tour guides really showed us how rich their culture (ancient or modern) is. Highly recommend this tour: Six adults (incl. 2 seniors). My personal favorites: Valley of the Kings, GEM, and any of the evening tours of the temples!

Good experience overall It’s a mixed review of the tour and I will divide it into office staff and guide & drivers. Ahmed Omar in Cairo office helped us with our 5 days-Nile cruise and associated sightseeing. He was very prompt, polite and professional. As we didn’t get the morning flight on the day of our cruise, Ahmed helped us book a Luxor hotel for the night before. He also asked us for a personal favour and we obliged. Ahmed was thoughtful and offered to arrange ‘meet and greet’ at Cairo airport, in addition to the pick up on our return to Cairo after the cruise. Mr Mina met us at Cairo airport for helping with visa, Sim and money exchange. Despite Ahmed’s assurance that we would be helped with exchanging money, Mr Mina was walking out without doing that. When my wife pointed that out, he tried to blame us for not reminding him, which was not very nice! At Luxor airport, we were expecting My Ayman, but someone else came, which is fine. He was helpful and went to the hotel with us and next morning picked us up from hotel and dropped us at the cruise. We chose Sonesta star goddess for our trip and Ahmed had arranged everything. The guide Mohamed Refaat met us at 3pm. He said was a freelancer, and that he was given to us because he is a close friend of Mr Ayman. We found difficult to understand his English initially and his knowledge was just ok. He spent 20 minutes outside the Karnak temple talking about canals etc and as a result we had to rush at the end. He didn’t offer to take photos, but obliged whenever we asked. He repeated himself a lot and was not very interesting or engaging. We did think of calling the office to change him but didn’t. In Aswan, he said that we should pay for the felucca ride which was included. And then went on to say that we should pay the driver as he is not paid well and that we have to spend a lot during our Abu Simbel trip. On the final day, Mohamed went to our cruise reception and asked the person to give us an envelope and then turned around and told me to give them tips, before he leaves. That was very disrespectful behaviour and we were angry. Then we went to Abu Simbel and throughout the journey, he mostly chatted with the driver or slept. The driver, Kareem, was holding his phone with his left hand and talking while driving on the highway, which we found quite scary. Despite clearly telling Mohamed that we will not take out money using our card and that we will exchange money when we return to Aswan, after our trip finishes, he kept asking us to take money out throughout the day whenever he saw an ATM, very irritating behaviour. It left us with a bad taste. On the positive side, he was always on time, was friendly and did the basics. There were other little negative things like the car didn’t have water or tissue box, though it was sorted after informing Ahmed twice. It would have been good if someone from Gat tour contacted us directly to see if we were ok. We had to keep texting Ahmed for all minor issues, and he was always prompt. The representatives for Aswan airport and then again at Cairo airport were all on time and professional. So overall it was good. Gat tours is recommended but the guide Mohamed is definitely not.

Agence au top Agence vraiment au top gestion des visites, transports, choix des hôtels malgré des changements d’horaires causer par les avions, une personne était là à chaque étape au moment de notre arrivée. The best! Highly recommended! 10 out of 10 The best. Seamless from start to finish. Nothing is too much. Excellent communications. We did the Renaissance 5 day river cruise from Luxor to Aswan. 4 of us. We had our own knowledgeable and very solicitous guide who accompanied us throughout the cruise. GAT also met us at the airport and in Luxor to take us to the boat and introduce us to our tour guide. Everything on time, with clear communication. GAT also booked us the Elite sleeper train from Cairo to Luxor. Their cost was was very reasonable and it was a fabulous experience: a wonderful, clean and well designed compartment with excellent service, they even provided slippers! Mr Omar, one of the managers, based in Cairo, was superb in choreographing our entire trip. Thank you GAT
