Itinerary

Your journey at the land of the Nile will start by arriving in Cairo airport where you will meet GAT Tours representative for the first time. He will be your closest person during your stay in Egypt as he will help you with everything you may need even if it is a tiny thing.

After finishing all the airport requirements, you will head to your chosen hotel in Cairo to take your room key where you will enjoy relaxing the rest of the day after a very long flight.

The rest of the day will be free to relax and get ready for tomorrow’s tour in Cairo.

Your day will begin by enjoying a very delicious breakfast at your Hotel then you will get ready to start today’s tour in Cairo.

The best Egyptologist Tour Guide will be waiting for you to take you to a very interesting tour. You will begin the tour by exploring the world’s famous 3 Pyramids which are located in Giza. The pyramids belonged to kings Cheops, Chephren, and Mycrenos, there is also the statue of Sphinx, a very interesting one to visit.

The Step Pyramid of Zoser and Pyramid Of King Titi will be your next visit to Saqqara city. Inside the pyramid of King Titi you can see the exclusive pyramids texts. There will also be very interesting tombs that date back to the Old Kingdom like the tomb of Ti or Kajemeni.

Now, it’s the time to enjoy some Egyptian food during your lunch meal.

Then, it’s time to visit the first capital of ancient Egypt which is Memphis city. It was called the city of God Ptah, it hosts a very interesting Open Air Museum and the famous Colossal statue of King Ramses II. you will definitely enjoy visiting this mysterious city.

Once the day ends, you will transfer to your beloved hotel in Cairo to enjoy some relaxing free time.

During the evening time, you will be free on your own or we can offer you an Alternative tour to the Sound & Light show at the Pyramids Of Giza where you will know everything about the pyramids from Sphinx himself (this can only be offered upon your request).

Now you can get back to your hotel to enjoy your night. (Breakfast – Lunch)

The best Breakfast meal will be served to you at your hotel before starting today’s tour in the morning.

Your Egyptologist tour guide will meet you in the early morning to take you on a very interesting tour to the Egyptian Museum in the downtown of Cairo. This museum is the most important Museums in the world as it hosts a magnificent collection of the ancient Egyptian displays from various periods of time. The main highlights of the museum are the golden treasures of TutAnkhAmun.

Today’s Lunch meal will be at one of the best local restaurants in town.

Let’s continue the Cairo tour by exploring the great Citadel Of Salah El Dien which hosts some interesting monuments inside like the Alabaster Mosque Of Mohamed Ali and lots of other mosques and museums.

Now your tour will head to the old Cario area to visit the Coptic monuments of Cairo. You will enjoy visiting the historical churches there in a very interesting tour.

At the end of such a great and fruitful tour, you will get back to your Hotel to spend an interesting evening. You can choose to be free at night or you can join us in our alternative Nile cruise Dinner which will include a dervish show and other entertainments during a 2 hours saling in the Nile.

Your Overnight will be in Cairo (Breakfast – Lunch)

Enjoy your Egyptian breakfast meal in the morning before starting today’s journey.

Today you will head to the Cairo Airport to catch your flight towards Abu Simbel city in upper Egypt. Once you arrive, GAT Tours representative will be waiting for you to help you during your stay in upper Egypt, he will take you to your Lake Nasser Cruise.

You will check in to your Lake Nasser Cruise where you will enjoy a delicious Lunch meal on board in the middle of the Nile.

After having your lunch meal and getting some rest on your cruise, you’ll join your expert tour guide on a very unique tour to Abu Simbel Temples. This complex is a great achievement from ancient Egypt, it consists of two temples that were constructed by Ramses II. We were able to discover them after many centuries and get them our of the sands in the 19th century.

After such a great tour, you will get back to your Lake Nasser Cruise to get some rest and enjoy your evening time on your own. You can also have a great chance to join us in today’s optional tour to the Sound & Light show at Abu Simbel temple which will be upon your request.

Your Dinner meal will be offered on board your Nile cruise, then you will enjoy a sleepy night. (Breakfast – Lunch – Dinner)

You will enjoy today’s breakfast on board while sailing towards Kasr Ibrim.

Start the tour by joining your expert tour guide to the Kasr Ibrim Temple which dates back to the Roman period. Kasr Ibrim is considered one of the most important Nubian monuments in Egypt. You will be able to see this monument from your ship only as the access is not permitted.

Then, you will continue sailing the Nile until you reach the Temple of Amada. This temple was built by Thutmosis III in the 15th century BC, today the temple is considered one of the most amazing Nubian temples in Egypt.

Get back to your Cruise to enjoy your lunch meal in the middle of the Nile.

Tonight you will be sailing to Wadi El Seboua. On board there will be a Nubian Folkloric show operated by the staff

Spend the night on board after having your Dinner meal. (Breakfast – Lunch – Dinner)

The first thing you will have in the morning is your breakfast meal, then you will head to start today’s tour.

Today, you will enjoy discovering the amazing sites in the South of Egypt which will start with the Wadi Seboua. It’s a small temple constructed by the most famous king Ramses II for the worship of the god Amun.

While enjoying your lunch meal on board, you will continue sailing towards Aswan, the city of gold.

Enjoy your free time in the afternoon then you will get your Dinner meal on board.

Make sure to have a relaxing night in your Nile Cruise in the middle of the Nile. (Breakfast – Lunch – Dinner)

The most energizing breakfast will be served to you on board. then you will head to explore the amazing city of Aswan.

The Kalabsha Temple will be your first site to visit in Aswan, it was constructed by the famous Roman Emperor, Augustusin in the 1st century BC. The temple is now located in a different site than the original one, it was relocated in the 1970s after the construction of the High Dam to get protected from the water damage.

Now you will check out your Lake Nasser Cruise to head for another adventure to your Eco Nubia in Bigeh Island

During the afternoon, you will enjoy a felucca ride around the Islands and view of the Agha Akhan Mauseloum and Botanical Gardens.

At the end of the day, you will return to your Eco Lodge to spend the night in Aswan (Breakfast)

 

Start the day with a fresh breakfast meal in the early morning, then you will start the tour of the day at the High Dam.

This amazing project was an engineering miracle that was built during the region of the Egyptian president Gamal Abdel Nasser in 1960.

Next, you will head to visit the most beautiful temple of Philae which was constructed in order to worship the Goddesses Isis and Hathor. The temple has a great heritage that made it very famous and interesting to visit.

Let’s end the day with a very special visit to the Unfinished Obelisk which was found in the Southern part of the city of Aswan. This great obelisk would have been considered the largest piece of stone that a human dealt with, only if it was completed. The Obelisk dates back to the New Kingdom and it documents the miracle process of the obelisks construction in ancient Egypt.

Once the tour is over, you will get back to your new Dahabiya Cruise to enjoy your Dinner meal and then get a relaxing and sleepy night on board. (Breakfast)

Don’t miss having a tasty Egyptian breakfast in the early morning before starting today’s journey.

The first day’s sailing takes you to a small Nile island for a walk in the countryside.

You will have a chance to enjoy your lunch meal on board or on the island, this is while sailing towards Kom Ombo city.

You will have a perfect tour to explore the Kom Ombo temple which was built during the Ptolemaic period and completed during the Roman era. This was a big reason why the temple is dedicated to two different gods, the local crocodile, Sobek, and the famous eagle god, Haroeris.

After a day full of exploration, you will get back to your Dahabyia to enjoy the night.

Then your cruise will head to Gebel el-Silsila then you will spend the night in the middle of the Nile. (Breakfast – Lunch – Dinner)

After breakfast time, you will be visiting the rock-cut chapels of Horemheb, Seti I, Ramses II and Merenptah and explore the sandstone quarries at Gebel el-Silsila.

The sail continues to Edfu where you can visit the temple of Horus which is the best-preserved of all the temples in Egypt and is considered one of the best examples of Graeco Roman temples in Egypt. The temple was constructed by the Ptolemies in the 3rd century BC for the worship of god, Horus.

Travel on to a small island where the boat will moor for the night. You will have dinner on board the Dahabiya or round a campfire on the tranquil banks of the Nile. Second night on board. (Breakfast – Lunch – Dinner)

Enjoy your Breakfast on board first thing in the morning, then Cruise to El Kab which is the ancient town of Nekheb. It’s one of the oldest and most significant archaeological sites on the Nile. Then you will visit the remains of its temples and some of the tombs cut into the cliffs.

Now you will return to the boat and set sail for Esna. Third and last night on board. (Breakfast – Lunch – Dinner)

Your Breakfast will be on board before Checking out in Esna.

You will have a great chance to join our optional tour to visit Esna temple upon your request. Then you will head to Luxor with a private A/C late model Car.

Cross the West Bank and transfer to your hotel “Al Moudira” to Check in for 2 nights.

Your afternoon time will be at the temple of Karnak which was built by many different pharaohs. The temple had perfect illustrations that made it more special than any other temples and it lasted for over 2000 years.

Then you will start a unique tour to the Luxor temple which is one of the most majestic Pharaoh temples and has lots of beautiful suspended mosaïcs.

Finally, you will return to your Hotel and you will have a great chance to try our Alternative tour to the Sound & Light show at Karnak temples, this only can be offered upon request.

Your evening Free time will be in Luxor to do whatever pleases you. (Breakfast)

The most delicious breakfast meal will be waiting for you in the morning on board.

You will have a very interesting optional tour early in the morning to try the Hot Air Balloon ride. This experience will give you the chance to fly over the valley of the kings and the West Bank of Luxor. (can be offered upon request).

It’s now the time to visit the richest site in the whole of Luxor that is full of beautiful ancient tombs, the Valley of The Kings. This was the main burial site for the kings of the New Kingdom. Your visit to the valley of the kings will include the entry for 3 of the famous tombs in the area.

To continue the tour, you will be visiting the Valley of the Queens where you will have another 3 Royal tombs to visit and a big chance to enter the magnificent tomb of Queen Nefertari (With extra ticket).

During your tour in Luxor, you can’t miss visiting El Dear El Bahri temple constructed by queen Hatshepsut in the 18th dynasty. The Temple has great features like beautiful terraces and some statues for the Queen with a beard. This temple was carved out of one of the great mountains of Thebes.

To have a great ending of the day, you will better visit the Colossi of Mammon which consist of two huge statues that were constructed in 1350 BC and remained from the great funerary temple of Amenhotep III.

Let’s get back to your Hotel at the end of your day tour to spend an evening free time.

Trip of a lifetime We just got back from a family "trip of a lifetime" to Egypt: 3 couples arrived in Cairo from different parts of US and Canada, at different flights and times, and yet the reception and arrival coordination and documents arrangement could not have been smoother. All was arranged, and the trip was custom designed by Ahmet from GAT Tours. We were a bit apprehensive considering the issues in the Middle East, but really there never has been a moment of concern and a complete feeling of safety as we were chauffeured, flown and sailed to the various destinations of this great country of Egypt. We visited the important sites around Cairo : the fantastic, new, Grand Egyptian Museum, the pyramids, the Sphinx, Civilization Museum, the market, Citadel, and other sites. Our hotel was first class. Our voyage down the Nile from Luxor was in upgraded suites (courtesy of GAT) on top of the line Sonesta Cruise line : gourmet meals in absolute comfort! We were lucky to have Asmaa in Cairo and Simon in Luxor and Aswan to guide us through the exhilarating sites of Karnak Temple, Valley of the Kings, Kim Ombo, Edfu, Abu Simbel etc. in a very knowledgeable and entertaining fashion. Cairo and Nile Cruise This was an excellent tour! GAT Tours planned every detail and was very accommodating. We were initially going to cancel the tour considering the recent instability in the Gulf Region, however, the tour manager (Ahmed Omar) ensured our safety. We felt very safe in the hands of our tour guides (Asmaa - in Cairo and Simon in Luxor/Aswan). Both tour guides were extremely knowledgeable, personable, engaging, and advised us well on how to save time and money at the various sites and markets. Strongly recommend Asmaa and Simon as tour guides! Our travel/logistics person (Seif) was also great. He ensured our transportation, pick-ups, and meals were all on time. Everyone operating the tour was accessible and responsive via iPhone. The tour guides really showed us how rich their culture (ancient or modern) is. Highly recommend this tour: Six adults (incl. 2 seniors). My personal favorites: Valley of the Kings, GEM, and any of the evening tours of the temples!

Good experience overall It’s a mixed review of the tour and I will divide it into office staff and guide & drivers. Ahmed Omar in Cairo office helped us with our 5 days-Nile cruise and associated sightseeing. He was very prompt, polite and professional. As we didn’t get the morning flight on the day of our cruise, Ahmed helped us book a Luxor hotel for the night before. He also asked us for a personal favour and we obliged. Ahmed was thoughtful and offered to arrange ‘meet and greet’ at Cairo airport, in addition to the pick up on our return to Cairo after the cruise. Mr Mina met us at Cairo airport for helping with visa, Sim and money exchange. Despite Ahmed’s assurance that we would be helped with exchanging money, Mr Mina was walking out without doing that. When my wife pointed that out, he tried to blame us for not reminding him, which was not very nice! At Luxor airport, we were expecting My Ayman, but someone else came, which is fine. He was helpful and went to the hotel with us and next morning picked us up from hotel and dropped us at the cruise. We chose Sonesta star goddess for our trip and Ahmed had arranged everything. The guide Mohamed Refaat met us at 3pm. He said was a freelancer, and that he was given to us because he is a close friend of Mr Ayman. We found difficult to understand his English initially and his knowledge was just ok. He spent 20 minutes outside the Karnak temple talking about canals etc and as a result we had to rush at the end. He didn’t offer to take photos, but obliged whenever we asked. He repeated himself a lot and was not very interesting or engaging. We did think of calling the office to change him but didn’t. In Aswan, he said that we should pay for the felucca ride which was included. And then went on to say that we should pay the driver as he is not paid well and that we have to spend a lot during our Abu Simbel trip. On the final day, Mohamed went to our cruise reception and asked the person to give us an envelope and then turned around and told me to give them tips, before he leaves. That was very disrespectful behaviour and we were angry. Then we went to Abu Simbel and throughout the journey, he mostly chatted with the driver or slept. The driver, Kareem, was holding his phone with his left hand and talking while driving on the highway, which we found quite scary. Despite clearly telling Mohamed that we will not take out money using our card and that we will exchange money when we return to Aswan, after our trip finishes, he kept asking us to take money out throughout the day whenever he saw an ATM, very irritating behaviour. It left us with a bad taste. On the positive side, he was always on time, was friendly and did the basics. There were other little negative things like the car didn’t have water or tissue box, though it was sorted after informing Ahmed twice. It would have been good if someone from Gat tour contacted us directly to see if we were ok. We had to keep texting Ahmed for all minor issues, and he was always prompt. The representatives for Aswan airport and then again at Cairo airport were all on time and professional. So overall it was good. Gat tours is recommended but the guide Mohamed is definitely not.

The best! Highly recommended! 10 out of 10 The best. Seamless from start to finish. Nothing is too much. Excellent communications. We did the Renaissance 5 day river cruise from Luxor to Aswan. 4 of us. We had our own knowledgeable and very solicitous guide who accompanied us throughout the cruise. GAT also met us at the airport and in Luxor to take us to the boat and introduce us to our tour guide. Everything on time, with clear communication. GAT also booked us the Elite sleeper train from Cairo to Luxor. Their cost was was very reasonable and it was a fabulous experience: a wonderful, clean and well designed compartment with excellent service, they even provided slippers! Mr Omar, one of the managers, based in Cairo, was superb in choreographing our entire trip. Thank you GAT
