The discovery location

The location of this discovery was at the UNESCO world heritage site south of Cairo. Those coffins were dedicated to the ancient Egyptian God Seker and were found in three shafts in about 10-12 meters in perfect condition, they were colorfully painted and well-preserved wooden. These coffins are completely closed since they were buried 2500 years ago and no one opened them before.

The discovery wasn’t just about the coffins and the mommies inside of it, it is also about finding other smaller artifacts that made this discovery a rich event with all these mysteries of the ancient Egyptians.

Egypt’s antiquities ministry will continue in this mission by opening the rest of the coffins to study its content very carefully before its display at the Grand Egyptian Museum which will open in 2021.

The Egyptian archaeological discoveries were active since 2018, behind this discovery they unveiled a cache of mummified animals in a well-preserved tomb that dates back to the fifth dynasty belonging to ‘Wahtye’ the royal priest in ancient Egypt.
